Adult Belt Ranks

Adult Judo Belt Requirements | Jacksonville Judo

Our adult judo ranking system develops etiquette, safe falling, throwing, groundwork, submissions, kata, rules knowledge, competition experience, leadership, and service. Yellow Belt uses the complete junior Kyukyu requirements, and Orange Belt uses the complete junior Nankyu requirements. Requirements are cumulative: candidates must retain and improve all skills from previous ranks.

Promotion eligibility: Attendance and time-in-grade are minimum benchmarks—not automatic promotions. Candidates must demonstrate the required knowledge, technical proficiency, maturity, good moral character, and receive instructor approval. Active competitors may qualify for shorter time-in-grade based on documented competition points and performance.
